Americans are dreamers and we are no different at WATCHMAN. In 2011,
our Qualified FEI stallion, Fugitivo XII, was recruited by U.S. Para Equestrian Team member, Susan Treabess, fresh from international competition at the WEG, to be her partner in her quest to compete at the 2012 Paralympics in London.
We know it takes more than talent, hard work, and focus to achieve such big dreams. That is why, this year only, WATCHMAN is reducing Fugitivo’s stud fee to $1800 and inviting all breeders who want a 2012 booking to donate the fee to the USPEA to support this promising team. All monies earned will be used to defray their expenses and are tax deductible through the USPEA.
To share in the dream book now for your 2012 breeding to this elite stallion!
$500 deposit required before March 15.
International quality frozen semen will be shipped and can be used at any time.
USPREA High Point Awards
We congratulate Shea Lovizanno for winning the USPREA Jr/YR division, Angela Ridgeway for winning USPREA Open High Point division and are happy to announce Heroe de Honor LF is the USDF DSHB 3 & Under In-hand class Champion for USPRE.
Sired by Fugitivo XII
Owned by WATCHMAN PRE Horses
Bred by Legacy Farms
Trained by Classical Spanish Equitation
Heroe was shown in three USDF DSHB competitions this summer, placing first or second each time and qualifying for the Regional USDF Championships each time.
Additionally he was 3rd in a very competitive yearling morphology class at the National Celebration of the Pure Spanish Horse.
We are waiting to hear how Heroe did in the 2011 All Breeds Awards...fingers crossed.
Birth Announcements!
WATCHMAN is thrilled to announce the arrival of ESMERO WAE on September 9, 2011. Against the odds, Bohemia de Fraile produced this wonderful buckskin colt. His color is confirmed by UC Davis and he will keep his color...he will not gray. He is a quality colt with color and a wonderful blessing to our farm.
His grandsire is Utebo, a champion of Spain who holds Elite status in the Spanish Stud Book. What is Elite Status? It is one step above Qualified.
We would also like to welcome another buckskin colt, half brother to Esmero, whom we have named Tifon WAE. Tifon is by the buckskin stallion Cuchares II. Tifon will turn gray.

August 2011 :: Special Thanks & Show Results
WATCHMAN AND CLASSICAL SPANISH EQUITATION want to thank all our clients that have supported our program the last few years. There is a video just for you on You Tube. We consider you part of our family and are always happy to see you again... Come to the farm and enjoy refreshment and a view of the new babies.
August has been horse show season for WATCHMAN. We sent Belica de Fraile, Europa MHF and Heroe de Honor LF to Peet Equestrian for preparation for the IALHA Region 1 show, the City of Industry ANCCE show, and Celebration in Las Vegas. We are well pleased with our horses.
At Regionals. Europa was the Senior Mare Champion and Best Movement winner and Belica was the Junior Mare Champion and Best Movement Winner.
At the ANCCE show, Europa place 2nd in the Senior Mare class and Belica was 4th.
Both mares are pregnant and returned to Modesto following the show for a much deserved rest.
We sent Heroe to Celebration where he was 2nd in the Yearling Sport Horse Class and 3rd in Yearling Morphology. Our Fugitivo filly, Cleopatra WAE was first in her sport horse class and 4th in her morphology class....CONGRATULATIONS TO YEGUADA DOULBE O.
Before going to Las Vegas, Heroe won his yearling Sport Horse class at Star Vaughn in Wilton, CA and was reserve champion Junior Colt.
He has one more outing into the USDF world in September and then WATCHMAN is calling it a day for 2011.
WATCHMAN has experienced another stroke of luck. Heroe de Honor LF has joined our herd. He is a local northern California boy, by Fugitivo XII out of Herencia KR who was bred by Ketcham Ranch. He will be our junior stallion, standing beside his sire, Fugitivo XII as the foundation of our breeding program. We cannot thank Paula and Paul Lafferty enough. They are the breeders of this colt. Heroe is named for Paula's dad, a war hero and since my dad was also a Navy pilot who served his country his entire life, I like the name. We will not say too much about Heroe, just let him speak for himself as he matures. Here are a few pictures to acquaint you with his size, presence and movement. We plan to take him to two or three USDF Sporthorse competitions this summer. In 2012 he will become a 2 year old and will have a serious show schedule, Thank you Paula and Paul, we are more than grateful to you. Howard and Erica Peet of Peet Equitation will be his handlers.
The next good news to report is that Galea MHF, Doctora AK and Europa MHF are all in foal to Fugitivo XII. We have a surrogate mare carrying a Furruco LXXXIII out of Fabulilla MR baby. Our Doma Vaquera mare, Bruja JIM is in foal to Zutano EDA. Lastly, two of our new mares, Belica de Fraile and Bohemia de Fraile are due to foal this fall. We think these babies will be very special. These mares are by Utebo, a champion of Spain who holds Elite status in the Spanish Stud Book. What is Elite Status? It is one step above Qualified.

Our two WATCHMAN mares, Galea and Solena delivered fancy babies for our friend, Erin Lohec of Andalusian Dressage Partners. Both are by her successful dressage stallion, Noble GF.
Additionally our mares have fallen in foal easily...
We are waiting for news on Galea who was bred to Fugitivo. Galea will be returning home after weaning her colt...we really miss her and want the pleasure of seeing her every day.
In May, WATCHMAN got a special delivery...a beautiful cobra from Spain. Belica de Fraile, Bohemia de Fraile and Benigna de Fraile. They are by Utebo, Champion of Spain and Qualified stallion. Expect to see them next year at Copa California. Two of the mares came in foal to Cuchares, the buckskin stallion that sired Desplante XIII, the red buckskin stallion, recently imported by Majestic Andalusians. We will be welcoming two foals in September and October. Then Antonio Topete will be training these mares as a cobra. Thanks go to Maria O’Brien for finding these mares for WATCHMAN.
Our news end with an announcement we are so happy to make. Our fabulous FEI stallion Fugitivo XII has been recruited by 2010 WEG Para Dressage Team Member, Susan Treabess. They have been forging a partnership over the last three months and will return to competition in July. If everything goes just right, they will represent the United States in London at the Olympic Games, or if more preparation time is needed, they will point towards another appropriate international competition.
All in all, WATCHMAN feels blessed in a very uncertain world and we hope all our friends experience peace and relief from insurmountable problems. In some small way we hope to continue to preserve the PRE Horse and be a part of the solution our country needs.
February 2011 :: TIME FOR TRANSITIONS
Fabulilla MR is going to a new home, Rancho El Encanto. Dr Ariel Martinez is the owner of the qualified stallion, Farruco LXXXIII as well as a group of other fine PRE Horses. We are looking forward to seeing babies from this cross.
Our congratulations to Shelley Clark of Hollister, CA who recently purchased Preciosa ADF. WATCHMAN is very happy to see our mare go to the recent winner of the 2010 USPRE Amateur Rider Scholarship. Good luck Shelley, we will be cheering from the sidelines for you and Preciosa in 2011.
Encantador TNF will be the new mount of Stephanie Schaefer of La Honda, CA. Stephanie is a seasoned Amateur Dressage rider who will be an excellent match for this fine dressage prospect. Our trainer, Tony Topete Diaz, owner of Classical Spanish Equitation, will back Encantador before he leaves WATCHMAN.
Our beautiful filly Nina WAE has been purchased by Jose Urbina of Wilton, CA. Jose is carefully putting together a small quality breeding operation and we are very pleased he chose Nina as his foundation mare. Later Jose can bring her back for a complimentary breeding to Fugitivo XII. We would like to see all our sale WATCHMAN fillies carry at least one Fugitivo baby and offer complimentary breedings with these sales.
We are happy to share a video of Bruja JIM during a doma vaquera training session with Tony Topete Diaz owner of Classical Spanish Equitation. Bruja is at the very beginning of her training but is showing great bravery and promise when “the bull” is presented to her. Stay tuned for more...
Fugitivo XII:
January 2011 :: HAPPY NEW YEAR...Prospero Nuevo Año
Here we are looking at a new year and hoping we can take lessons learned in 2010 and apply them to make a better future for our country, ourselves and our beloved PRE horses.
We are looking forward to the birth of several foals from Calificado parents, and to having the fun of an Iberian pony in the herd. We also have expanded our plans to include two Iberian WB geldings that will be trained by Antonio Topete and offered to the dressage community.
We will be more focused on Fugitivo XII in 2011. He will be continuing his training as an FEI horse as well as his breeding activities. March starts our foaling season and until then we will be busy marketing the remaining 2010 foals and a few of our mares and fillies. Now that Fugitivo is part of us we want to add a mare or two that is specifically bred to compliment him. Stay tuned for more news on our website…PixelGraphix has updated in recently and we have released Fugitivo’s own website…www.Fugitivo-XII.com.
